A mouth watering stone fruit more often associated with hotter countries. These Kentish grown Flat Peaches are not to be missed! Full of juice they quite obviously stand out from imported flat peaches. Grown on our friends farm just 10 minutes from Roughway as a trial we are delighted to share this exciting new UK fruit with our customers.

Sent firm where possible so allow time to ripen. Refrigeration is always recommended.

Important Message Before Ordering – Peaches mark very easily, often on the tree before they even get picked. They leave pressure marks on each other and the most juicy peaches can also get what look like bruises at the top while the rest of the peach is firm, these peaches are often the best – they are the most juicy and sweetest. So please be aware before ordering that we send these peaches and look at the photos provided of the common marks.

*Fresh Fruit Delivery – We currently use APC Overnight Delivery or DPD Next Day. These services operate Monday to Friday in England and Wales and do not deliver on Saturday or Sunday. For customers in Scotland most of the time it is the same service as England and Wales, this is true for Glasgow and Edinburgh but remote areas may take 2 days, Islands and Highlands may have a supplementary charge, we may contact you after your order if this is required or please email for Scottish rates. We allow 1 day processing time and an additional day for delivery. The fruit is only in transit for 1 day from us to you. Example: Order Wednesday for Delivery on Friday. While every possible effort will be made to fulfil this service we cannot be held responsible for problems caused by the courier company. Orders placed on Friday and over the weekend will be processed for a Tuesday dispatch at the latest. Eg. Thursday, Friday, Weekend orders could arrive Tuesday or Wednesday. Orders after 4pm may be moved into the following day. DPD and APC both provide tracking. During preorders we dispatch on harvest in order of received. Our Dehusked Gunslebert Cobnuts are now available. The Gunslebert  is a variety of hazelnut that has a unique and enjoyable flavour. As a nut the Gunslebert is more rounded than the Kent Cob and when green has a frilly husk. As a nut they can be eaten fresh or used in dishes.

Dehusked cobnuts should be kept cool to prevent the kernel (nut) drying. A salad draw is an ideal place for storage.

Potted Gunslebert Cobnut Trees – Out of Stock

We now have a number of  Gunslebert Cobnut trees available in 7 Litre pots – We are out of 3 litre Gunslebert Cobnut trees. These trees are on British grown roots and are suitable for planting most places in the UK.

These are ideal for planting and producing high yielding trees. Many garden centers currently sell seedling trees and these usually yield very few cobnuts. These trees are the same trees that we grow on the farm and if properly maintained should produce a good crop of Kent Cobnuts.

Cobnuts are packed full of vitamins, minerals and fibre. In winter the catkins on the trees brighten up the trees.

Two varieties are deemed preferable for pollination but not essential as common hedge row nut can assist with pollination.

The trees do vary in size and shape but are generally between 30cm and a meter. We cannot guarantee the size of the trees selected for delivery but every care is taken to select a good tree.

 

On Arrival:

We advise watering the pot and planting promptly into the ground or into a large pot for later planting if required. The pot should have room to allow further root growth. The tree will need a healthy watering over the first few days.

If planting dig a hole twice the size of the pot and tease out the roots.Make sue that the root ball is level and not at an angle. Water regularly and monitor.

The aim after this point will be to manage the growth of branches. These should be allowed to form at least 60cm from the ground.

Dehusked Kent Cobnuts – 2025 Season Stock – Drier and Sweeter – Please wait until November for 2026 stock 

Our delicious Dehusked Cobnuts are full of flavour and are perfect in dishes or simply on their own, they are also a perfect seasonal treat. Dehusked Kent Cobnuts start creamy when first dehusked and become sweeter with time with a delicious range of flavours as they mature. Late dehusked cobs (Feb-May) are drier and are very good for roasting and bakes. Cobnuts have a nationally recognised nutritional profile and are said to be fantastic sources of protein:

 

Cobnut kernels typically contain 12%-17% protein by dry weight, and about 10%-15% fibre. Cobnuts are very rich in vitamin E and in calcium, typically containing about 21mg and 141mg per 100g kernel (dry weight) respectively. They provide about 0.4mg and 0.55mg of vitamins B1 and B6 respectively per 100g dry weight.

Red Squirrel Cobnut Mix / Squirrel Feed –  Now Dispatching New Season Husked and Dehusked 2025 stock

Roughway Farm has supplied cobnuts for Red Squirrel conservation projects across the UK for over 50 years. From Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands our cobs have been enjoyed by our native squirrels.

Our red squirrel cobnuts are mixed cobnut varieties that are suited for squirrel consumption. Our squirrel nuts vary in terms of size and appearance. Our squirrel nuts are all grown in Kent and are certainly enjoyed by the squirrels!

We currently sell a range of weights from smaller packets for home use in gardens to larger bulk quantities in 20kg boxes. Please note we now place all sack orders in boxes due to a request from our courier. If you want a larger order please email and we are happy to organise.

Our Squirrel Cobnuts are harvested between September and October each year.

Please keep in mind that our cobs are kept cool to keep the kernels in good condition. This means that husked nuts in particular can be a little damp late season (Late Nov- March) and so should be allowed to air on arrival. The dehusked nuts by December and into the new year are generally drier and are preferred by some customers for handling and appearance. The squirrels however are happy with both.
