Quinces have a lovely aromatic flavour that is almost citrus. They have the texture of pear and need to be cooked. They can be made into jelly and a range of other items. The astringent nature of quinces means they can be used in savoury dishes.

We like blending quince with apple as it adds an extra punch to a crumble or pie. Quince can also be made into a range of alcohol such as liqueur

Quince as been associated with helping digestion.

Quinces are likely to be marked and very ‘back to basics’ as some trees are very old, receive no interventions and are dotted around the farm opposed to being commercially planned and harvested like our apples for example. Markings on quinces are common and do not usually matter as they are a tough fruit for cooking and processing – the skin is also normally removed for consumption.

Quinces can also have a fur on them which is natural and like markings the prevalence of this varies year to year, it can be washed or wiped off easily. It is best to remove the tough skin of the quince which can be tricky to do with a knife, but easier with a vegetable peeler. Some recommend lightly cooking before removing the skin.

Our fresh fruit one day delivery service currently operates in mainland England and Wales from Monday to Friday*. Preorders are dispatched on harvest. If ordering with an item that is not ready your order will be dispatched together.

Delivery	*Fresh Fruit Delivery – We currently use APC Overnight Delivery or DPD Next Day. These services operate Monday to Friday in England and Wales and do not deliver on Saturday or Sunday. For customers in Scotland most of the time it is the same service as England and Wales, this is true for Glasgow and Edinburgh but remote areas may take 2 days, Islands and Highlands may have a supplementary charge, we may contact you after your order if this is required or please email for Scottish rates. We allow 1 day processing time and an additional day for delivery. The fruit is only in transit for 1 day from us to you. Example: Order Wednesday for Delivery on Friday. While every possible effort will be made to fulfil this service we cannot be held responsible for problems caused by the courier company. Orders placed on Friday and over the weekend will be processed for a Tuesday dispatch at the latest. Eg. Thursday, Friday, Weekend orders could arrive Tuesday or Wednesday. Orders after 4pm may be moved into the following day. DPD and APC both provide tracking. During preorders we dispatch on harvest in order of received. Potted Gunslebert Cobnut Trees – Out of Stock

We now have a number of Gunslebert Cobnut trees available in 7 Litre pots – We are out of 3 litre Gunslebert Cobnut trees. These trees are on British grown roots and are suitable for planting most places in the UK.

These are ideal for planting and producing high yielding trees. Many garden centers currently sell seedling trees and these usually yield very few cobnuts. These trees are the same trees that we grow on the farm and if properly maintained should produce a good crop of Kent Cobnuts.

Cobnuts are packed full of vitamins, minerals and fibre. In winter the catkins on the trees brighten up the trees.

Two varieties are deemed preferable for pollination but not essential as common hedge row nut can assist with pollination.

The trees do vary in size and shape but are generally between 30cm and a meter. We cannot guarantee the size of the trees selected for delivery but every care is taken to select a good tree.

On Arrival:

We advise watering the pot and planting promptly into the ground or into a large pot for later planting if required. The pot should have room to allow further root growth. The tree will need a healthy watering over the first few days.

If planting dig a hole twice the size of the pot and tease out the roots.Make sue that the root ball is level and not at an angle. Water regularly and monitor.

The aim after this point will be to manage the growth of branches. These should be allowed to form at least 60cm from the ground.

Our Dehusked Gunslebert Cobnuts are now available. The Gunslebert is a variety of hazelnut that has a unique and enjoyable flavour. As a nut the Gunslebert is more rounded than the Kent Cob and when green has a frilly husk. As a nut they can be eaten fresh or used in dishes.

Dehusked cobnuts should be kept cool to prevent the kernel (nut) drying. A salad draw is an ideal place for storage.

Gift Bag Storage Advise: Please note that we keep our cobnuts cool to keep the kernels in good condition. The cooling from storage and during transport can mean the cobs get a bit damp. If this occurs then please air and dry the cobnuts and then place back in the bag once dry. We recommend keeping cobs in the salad draw to keep the kernels larger but do not place the cloth bag in the fridge. If you like sweeter cobs then do not put in the fridge, just leave out to dry and sweeten but be aware if too hot the kernels will dry rapidly. So do not put next to a heater.

The Ennis is a large, round and flavoursome cobnut. When green Ennis Cobnuts have tight green husks. As a nut they can be eaten fresh or used in dishes. They are popular due to their size in comparison to the Kent Cob and the Gunslebert. Ennis Cobnuts are usually in short supply so don’t miss out!

Our Ennis Cobnuts are available in weights ranging from 500g to 3kg and are harvested between October – November. Ennis is a later variety of cobnut.

Fresh White Cherries – 3Kg

We have a limited range of white cherries on the farm. They are an eclectic mix of varieties that are generally lighter in appearance and are a charming mix of reds and yellows on the outer skin. White cherries taste different to black/dark red cherries, they are still sweet but the flesh is a mixture of oranges, whites and yellows, they are ever so slightly reminiscent of a peach or nectarine but the flavour is still distinctly that of a cherry. They are certainly worth trying!

White cherries can still be red on the outside! So do not be shocked if you have a box of light red cherries. The more common difference is that the flesh inside the cherry is white / yellow opposed to red, purple or black. We could send any variety of white cherry we have so pictures are for display only.

Supply and availability – We have a very limited number of white cherry varieties on the farm. So our supply will be limited. We will be dispatching orders in the order they are received.

We may have to refund your order if we get more orders than supply. So please be aware to avoid disappointment.
