Red Squirrel Cobnut Mix / Squirrel Feed – In Stock  – Ready to buy online

14/10/2020 – The 2020 season has seen a low yield so we are now only sending our 2019 season nuts, these are prefect for your squirrels and make for excellent squirrel feed. They will love them! We also dehusked these in September and so you will be getting more than normal. We have added new photos of these for reference.

Roughway Farm has supplied cobnuts for Red Squirrel conservation projects across the UK.

Our red squirrel cobnuts are mixed cobnut varieties that are suited for squirrel consumption. Our squirrel nuts are a mix of husked nuts and dehusked nuts and can vary in terms of appearance. Our squirrel nuts are all grown in Kent and are certainly enjoyed by the squirrels!

We currently sell a range of weights from smaller packets for home use in gardens to larger bulk quantities in 20kg boxes. Please note we now place all sack orders in boxes due to a request from our courier. If you want a larger order please email and we are happy to organise.

If you want British sourced Squirrel food then we recommend buying from Roughway.

Marble Cherry variety

Fresh Marble Cherries – 3Kg – Preorder

Now out of stock 15/7/2020 – Marble Cherries – See you in 2020

Marble cherries are a charming variety with marbled reds and yellows. They can also be identified by their distinctive dark red line that usually features on one side of the cherry. The red line often resembles the veining on marble stone. Marble cherries taste different to black/dark red cherries, they are still sweet but the flesh is white / yellow, they are ever so slightly reminiscent of a peach or nectarine but the flavour is still distinctly that of a cherry. They are certainly worth trying!

Supply and availability – We currently have just one row of Marble Cherries. So our supply in 2020 is very limited to around 100kg. We will be opening for pre-orders 13/07/2020. Your marble cherries will be dispatched on harvest. We will be dispatching pre-orders in the order they are received.

It is likely we will sell out of this variety and we will get more orders than we have supply, if this happens we will refund orders that cannot be fulfilled.

  • Perfect for parties
  • A wonderful gift for friends and relatives
  • Farm fresh quality
  • Reduced time from field to table
  • Traceability – Know exactly where your cherries have come from

Potted Ennis Cobnut Trees – Out of Stock

We now have a number of Ennis Cobnut trees available in 3 Litre pots – We are out of 7 litre Ennis Cobnut trees. These trees are on British grown roots and are suitable for planting most places in the UK.

These are ideal for planting and producing high yielding trees. Many garden centers currently sell seedling trees and these usually yield very few cobnuts. These trees are the same trees that we grow on the farm and if properly maintained should produce a good crop of Kent Cobnuts.

Cobnuts are packed full of vitamins, minerals and fibre. In winter the catkins on the trees brighten up the trees.

Two varieties are deemed preferable for pollination but not essential as common hedge row nut can assist with pollination.

The trees do vary in size and shape but are generally between 30cm and a meter. We cannot guarantee the size of the trees selected for delivery but every care is taken to select a good tree.

On Arrival:

We advise watering the pot and planting promptly into the ground or into a large pot for later planting if required. The pot should have room to allow further root growth. The tree will need a healthy watering over the first few days.

If planting dig a hole twice the size of the pot and tease out the roots.Make sue that the root ball is level and not at an angle. Water regularly and monitor.

The aim after this point will be to manage the growth of branches. These should be allowed to form at least 60cm from the ground.

A useful pruning and management guide is available from the Kent Cobnut Association. Click Here
