New 2022 Season – Forced British Rhubarb – Finished for the season – Get notified for next season below, simply select weight and add email.

We have partnered with our friends at a fellow Kentish farm to sell their delicious Forced Rhubarb. At Roughway we love sharing our fresh produce with you but after trying our friends Rhubarb we had to share this seasonal delight. Grown in Kent this Rhubarb is perfect for crumbles, jams, gins and all manner of foodie delights for the Winter season.

Forced Rhubarb is normally thinner than the unforced and it produces these extra thin and elegant stems which outdoor does not. Our bundles of Forced Rhubarb taste delicious, they are thinner sticks than you would find in the supermarkets but there is no difference in flavour or quality. In fact we have found the smaller stems cook slightly faster and you still get bright pink juice and the sticks crumble nicely.

The Forced Rhubarb Season usually runs from December to March. Tunnelled rhubarb runs from March to May and outdoor from April/June and forced picks up again in December.

You are ordering British Rhubarb with the leaf. This ensures freshness, longevity and greater flavour but remember to cut these off when they arrive. Forced Rhubarb is grown in the dark.

Currently Available in weights of 1kg, 2kg, 3kg, 4kg, 5kg, 6kg, 7kg, 8kg and 10kg.

Our Ennis are now out of stock – See you in 2020

Our cobnut gift bags are the perfect present for anyone who loves cobnuts at Christmas and nuts generally. Our gift bags come in weights of 500g or 1kg.

The Ennis Cobnut is a large round nut and has a delicious taste and flavour. If you want an original, rural and wholesome gift this Christmas then our cobnut gift bags are the answer! Ennis cobnuts usually sell out so we recommend ordering soon.

Cobnuts have a nationally recognised nutritional profile and are said to be fantastic sources of protein:

Cobnut kernels typically contain 12%-17% protein by dry weight, and about 10%-15% fibre. Cobnuts are very rich in vitamin E and in calcium, typically containing about 21mg and 141mg per 100g kernel (dry weight) respectively. They provide about 0.4mg and 0.55mg of vitamins B1 and B6 respectively per 100g dry weight.

Our gift bags are available in bag of 500g or 1kg. The bags are perfectly reusable and are made from jute, with a drawstring that seals the bag.

Please also note that all our cobnut gift bags are labeled ‘Kent Cobnuts’ even when ordering a different variety gift bag. All different varieties (non Kent Cob) will have a card attached to the rope detailing the exact variety. Images for display purposes only.

Fresh Marble Cherries – 3Kg

2022 Season – Now Sold Out – Sign-up for 2023 notification below

Marble cherries are a charming variety with marbled reds and yellows. They can also be identified by their distinctive dark red line that usually features on one side of the cherry. The red line often resembles the veining on marble stone. Marble cherries taste different to black/dark red cherries, they are still sweet but the flesh is white / yellow, they are ever so slightly reminiscent of a peach or nectarine but the flavour is still distinctly that of a cherry. They are certainly worth trying!

Supply and availability – We currently have just one row of Marble Cherries. So our supply in 2022 will be very limited to around 100kg. We will be dispatching orders in the order they are received.

We may have to refund your order if we get more orders than supply. For the last 3 years we have sold out very quickly, so please be aware to avoid disappointment

It is likely we will sell out of this variety.

  • Perfect for parties
  • A wonderful gift for friends and relatives
  • Farm fresh quality
  • Reduced time from field to table
  • Traceability – Know exactly where your cherries have come from

Our fresh fruit one day delivery service currently operates in mainland England and Wales from Monday to Friday*. All fruit is different and so we will select delicious fruit to send but images are for display purposes.

Potted Ennis Cobnut Trees – Out of Stock

We now have a number of Ennis Cobnut trees available in 3 Litre pots – We are out of 7 litre Ennis Cobnut trees. These trees are on British grown roots and are suitable for planting most places in the UK.

These are ideal for planting and producing high yielding trees. Many garden centers currently sell seedling trees and these usually yield very few cobnuts. These trees are the same trees that we grow on the farm and if properly maintained should produce a good crop of Kent Cobnuts.

Cobnuts are packed full of vitamins, minerals and fibre. In winter the catkins on the trees brighten up the trees.

Two varieties are deemed preferable for pollination but not essential as common hedge row nut can assist with pollination.

The trees do vary in size and shape but are generally between 30cm and a meter. We cannot guarantee the size of the trees selected for delivery but every care is taken to select a good tree.

On Arrival:

We advise watering the pot and planting promptly into the ground or into a large pot for later planting if required. The pot should have room to allow further root growth. The tree will need a healthy watering over the first few days.

If planting dig a hole twice the size of the pot and tease out the roots.Make sue that the root ball is level and not at an angle. Water regularly and monitor.

The aim after this point will be to manage the growth of branches. These should be allowed to form at least 60cm from the ground.

A useful pruning and management guide is available from the Kent Cobnut Association. Click Here
